Introduction

I live in a 7 sq metre room with Simon Christian René Gaudin. He is a relax, tall, typical “France above all nation” dude. He is the archetype of what a finance shark should be. We have the same personality type, more or less, except we came to develop it in totally different environments, which ultimately leads to very enriching conversations.

The other girl that came with me is Julie Lagacé. We both study at McGill University back in Montreal and it just happens she chose China for her exchange program as well. We live in the same building, same floor and enjoy the same luxury within our rooms :-(

The Hong Kong University of Science & Technology happens to have been chosen as the best business school in Asia for the MBA programs. Also, according to the latest edition of Newsweek magazine, our IT department holds the 20th rank in the world!!! The university is absolutely beautiful. Its cozy suburban location is due to the fact the university was built not more than 15 years ago. The buildings acquire a very exotic taste in the middle of the rich forest that surround them.

We have all the needed accommodations on campus. We have maximum 10 different places where we can have a bite. Most of them are typically Chinese dishes, which are excellent most of the time. We also have a breakfast place that serves western breakfasts (eggs, toasts and all that stuff), a McDonald’s of course. A small grocery called Park’n’shop satisfies the everyday needs. There is a huge 5 storey library with an astonishing view of the surrounding islands and the ocean. We have an outdoor pool as well as an outdoor football field (Soccer… for my Canadian buddies!!!).There are many more things to see on campus, but I just haven’t got the opportunity to go yet.
